Winter sown seeds in a milk jug.

Tuesday, Nov, 18, 2025; 6:00 pm at the MU Extension Office at 2436 Tanner Bridge Rd, Jefferson City, MO.

Guest speaker will be Shirley Gassen from the Bittersweet Garden Club to provide a presentation about Winter Sowing.

    What is Winter Sowing?

Winter sowing is the process of sowing seeds in a container during the winter and allowing them to germinate at the time Nature deems appropriate. The winter sowing process involves planting the seeds into a container that permits light to enter, provides some protection from the elements, and then placing the container outside into the cold winter environment.

To be discussed: benefits, best seed types, when to start, sowing containers, supplies needed, potting soil, step by step process, and Facebook resources.
